East Meets West Center

Instructor: Anita L. Schill (200RYT)

Anita's journey of spiritual awakening began in 1989. After a decade of self-study, Anita discovered Anusara© Yoga and her passion for yoga ignited. She has studied yoga since 1999, with a short hiatus for intensive focus on training for competitive ballroom dancing. Upon her return to the yoga studio, Anita once again immersed herself in yoga studies, completing two years of yoga teacher training in the Anusara© tradition in 2011. Her primary teachers are Suzie Hurley and Maria Hamburger. As a teacher, Anita believes that each class is an opportunity to open hearts and minds and serve as a guide along the path of self-discovery. Through different themes, her classes provide time for reflection and revelry in each person's innate goodness. Anita encourages exploration of yoga starting from the inside and leading to playful outward expression of each pose. When not teaching yoga, Anita is a senior science advisor in occupational safety and health for a federal research institute. She has a PhD in occupational health, a master's of public health, and a master's in occupational safety and health. Her undergraduate studies were in nursing.
