- Director: East Meets West Center

I've been studying the internal martial arts of China for 25 years with some of the best masters in the United States and in China. This includes Tai Chi, Hsing I Chuan, and Pa Kua Chang (Ba Gua Zhang), as well as lots of Chi Kung. My youthful interest in martial arts has evolved into a focus on the health and spiritual aspects of these arts. My principal teachers were as follows, in chronological order with some overlap: Sifu Tom Updegrove (5 years: Yang Style Tai Chi, kickboxing), Master Ray Hayward (2 years: Pa Kua Chang), Master B.P. Chan (3 years: Pa Kua Chang), Master B.K. Frantzis (8 years: Pa Kua Chang, Tai Chi, Chi Kung), and Grandmaster Chien Liang Huang (3 years: Hsing I Chuan). The time spent with each teacher was based on the twists and turns of life.
Since the mid-1980s, I have been exploring Feng Shui. In the 1990's I formalized my study of Feng Shui, training with internationally recognized expert Roger Green of the New York School of Feng Shui. In 2002, I received my professional certification, and I have been actively consulting since that time.
In recent years, my interests have turned to energy healing via Reiki and Medical Qigong (Chi Kung). I've been training under the International Institute of Medical Qigong and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
I stand in awe of the abilities and achievements of my teachers and am deeply grateful for their generous instruction. It gives me great pleasure to be able to pass along some of the tremendous energy exercises that I have learned. I will be a student forever, and I hope that all those at East Meets West will share the thrill of what is for me a lifelong endeavor.
