Samantha Doak
Samantha Doak is a certified yoga and meditation teacher through the Integral Yoga teachings of Sri Swami Satchidananda Ashram in Yogaville. She has been practicing and studying yoga and meditation from various disciplines for over 10 years. Samantha developed and currently teaches a meditation class at George Mason University and the class recently collaborated with the Center For Consciousness and Transformation. She also developed a program for the Women’s and Gender Studies department in GMU. The project is in collaboration with the Shinyo-en Foundation’s Six Billion Paths to Peace project and is entitled: "Six Billion Paths To Peace: Meditation and Creative Transformation." She has been a guest speaker in various classrooms in GMU, facilitated wisdom circles, designs retreats and workshops, and has also been working with individuals as a mentor for transformation and healing. In the summer of 2009 she traveled to the Mindanao Peacebuilding Institute's Annual Peacebuilding Conference in the Davao City, Philippines and led meditation and yoga for inner peace as part of the peacebuilding process. Samantha is currently a George Mason University graduate student in the Masters of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies program with an Individualized Study track in Creative Consciousness and Healing. Her undergraduate studies at GMU were in Integrative Studies with a concentration in Creative Processes and Conflict Transformation. Her background includes a holistic interdisciplinary approach to healing and wellness through Fine Arts from multiple disciplines, International Conflict Analysis and Resolution, Arts and Culture, Trauma Healing, Religion, Yoga, and Meditation.
