July Workshop
- Hsing I Chuan
Instructor: Keith Harrington
Price: EMW registrants: 2 Class Credits; Visitors: $35
On Saturday July 12th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., we will have an introductory-level workshop on Hsing I Chuan. Hsing I is the third major category of the internal martial arts of China (in addition to Tai Chi and Ba Gua). Hsing I Chuan translates as Mind/Form or Intent/Form Boxing. It is based on the application of Five Element theory to martial arts. It is elegantly simple, very powerful, and quite exhilarating. This workshop is designed as an accent to our Tai Chi, Qigong, and Ba Gua classes. Hsing I strengthens your body in ways that these other arts do not. It cultivates the ability to move quickly with your body relaxed but connected and to issue power without stiffness. In a broader sense, it has a more aggressive attitude that can help you cultivate your intention and put it directly into action. You will be able to leave the workshop with sufficient knowledge to practice Hsing I on your own.
No prior experience is required whatsoever.
